I’m a registered counsellor, wife, mother, friend and just like most of my clients a person that has had to negotiate some pretty tough times. I’ve experienced major trauma at a young age and had to overcome post traumatic stress disorder while taking on a huge amount of responsibility. An impossible task, so I know failure too. Life can be messy and hard. What I learnt through all of this is that there is always a way out and up. My person centred approach means that I work to understand you and help you find your own way. I pride myself on being open-hearted and open-minded and my personal experience means that I have an intrinsic belief that all my clients can find both clarity and happiness no matter how hard their current situation seems. And if you need a little push, I’ll help you find your fight to get there too.
My Practice
I consult private clients at a busy and congenial practice in the heart of Claremont. On request online counselling can be arranged. In addition I do group therapy in a hospital setting and in room counselling at a well known NGO where I also supervise and support junior counsellors.
Person Centred
My counselling approach is based on genuine empathy and the belief that the client has the capacity for growth and achieving their therapeutic goals. I aim to create an environment where my clients can explore their feelings and their problems freely and deeply while guiding them towards self generated solutions.
Trauma Informed
I have training in trauma informed care, which means that I’m knowledgeable in how an individuals trauma history can influence their experience of the world and their reaction to it. I take steps to make sure my clients feel psychologically and physically safe in sessions and teach clients techniques to manage physiological and psychological reactions to stress and past trauma.
